If I rated films based on their ability to make me grin, which I generally do, then Men With Brooms would get 10/10.

I know it’s a bit ridiculous, but it’s funny and warm and sweet. Plus it’s got Paul Gross going around in a t-shirt and jeans, with the occasional excellent wooly sweater, smiling at people and carrying Amy when she’s drunk and sad. Also a female astronaut! And the cop and her crush on the waitress!

PLUS it ends with this exchange:

Amy: Cutter, are you ever going to kiss me, or do I have to do everything myself?

Chris: Well, I sort of like a woman with initiative.

Amy: I sort of like a man who knows what he wants.

Chris: Fuck, you got the wrong guy.

AND THEN THERE IS KISSING AND HUGGING AND IT’S ADORABLE.
